1998
"A scout for every occasion" is the claim it all started with. It's the beginning of an impressive success story that Joachim Schoss and Christian Mangstl kick off with the founding of the Scout24 Group of companies. In the Beisheim Holding Switzerland the young company has a strong investor at its side.
Scout24 Group expands
1999
The AutoScout24 and ImmobilienScout24 portals become active as the first operative companies of the Group in the marketplace. AutoScout24 is already active under the name MasterCar AG in Munich before the founding of Scout24. Within the Group, AutoScout24 quickly establishes itself as one of the largest German-speaking portals for used cars in the Internet.
What is now ImmobilienScout24 was set up in 1997 as EIB Wohn- und Immobilieninternetwork GmbH in Munich. It moved to Berlin one year later, from then on trading as Immobilien Scout GmbH. Immobilien Scout GmbH has been operating nationwide since 1999, and is now the largest German Internet marketplace offering property services.
2000
The Scout24 Group expands and captures additional business sectors. FinanceScout24 opens as a comparison portal for online banking and insurance services; JobScout24 starts as a job portal with numerous job offers and career tips, and FriendScout24 as a partner and dating website. They are followed by the portals GesundheitsScout24* and ShoppingScout24*.
2001
Numerous additional business locations are created, amongst others in Italy and Spain.
2002
The Group gets bigger: The travel specialist TravelScout24 goes online.
2004
T-Online International AG purchases Scout24 from Beisheim Holding Schweiz.
2005
The youngest offshoot of the Group, ElectronicScout24, is founded. By now the Group has expanded into seven market sectors.
2006
Through the merger of T-Online International with Deutsche Telekom AG, the Scout24 Group is now a 100% subsidiary company of the Deutsche Telekom concern.
The Local24 and Jobs.de platform write another chapter in the Scout24 Group history: The regional portal Jobs.de founded in 2006 is already operating on a national level the following year.
Scout24: Mobile Apps and Social Web
2009
Scout24 launches the first iPhone applications. Pioneers are the market places AutoScout24 with the "AutoScout24 to go" app and ImmobilienScout24 with the "ImmoScout24" app.
The Group establishes itself in the social web. Users can interact with Scout24 Group marketplaces on numerous Facebook pages, Twitter accounts and Youtube channels and obtain up-to-date information. Discover the Scout24 channels in the social web here
2010
ImmobilienScout24 launches the app "Mein Umzug". In April the Scout24 Group reaches the 500,000 downloads mark with their three current iPhone applications. With that, the Scout24 Group iPhone applications are among the top favourites in the areas of navigation and productivity in Apple’s iTunes store.
2011
ImmobilienScout24 was awarded the Great Place to Work® seal of quality at this year's national competition "Germany's Best Employers"!
JobScout24 was acquired by CareerBuilder, the well-known US career network, in October 2011. CareerBuilder has licensed the use of the JobScout24 brand.
Over 1200 employees work for the Scout24 Group and its marketplaces.
*These portals are currently no longer active on the market.
