Important terms
Advertising material
After confirmation of your registration you will receive access to the affiliate network and see your personalised advertising material. Below the advertising material you will find the respective (HTML) codes which you can quickly and easily incorporate into your website or newsletter. Next to the popular banners you will also find text links, search boxes, dynamic generators for individual links and advertising material, product data and much more, depending on the program.
Affiliate
Affiliates (= You), also known as partners or publishers, advertise offers and services, e.g. those of Scout24, on their web pages or newsletters; in return they receive a performance-related commission.
Affiliate Manager
An employee of one of our Scout24 marketplaces who supports you with registration and continued optimisation of your affiliate activities. You receive the corresponding contact details with the program description of the respective marketplaces.
Affiliate Network
Affiliate networks such as affilinet or Zanox stand between you as an affiliate and Scout24 as a program operator. They take on the compilation and analysis of your activities, such as the number of clicks on our advertising material generated by your website and payment of your commissions.
Clicks
Click means a mouse-click on any advertising material of Scout24 through which the user gets to the respective marketplace such as AutoScout24.
Click-Through-Rate (CTR)
The ratio in percentage terms between the view and click on an advertising material: e.g. when 100 views lead to 10 clicks the ratio equates to a CTR of 10%.
Commissions
The type and amount of the commission varies depending on the Scout24 partner program:
- Pay-per-click (PPC)
We pay you each time one of your users clicks on our advertising material. - Pay-per-lead (PPL)
We pay you for the conclusion of a qualified customer contact such as a registration with FriendScout24, a new advertisement with AutoScout24 or a newsletter subscription. - Pay per Sale (PPS)
We pay you for a sale procured through you, e.g. a holiday booking with TravelScout24.
Cookie
The term cookie relates to data that is, for instance, saved when one of your users reaches a Scout24 marketplace through our advertising material. For example, a registration on FriendScout24 occurring through a cookie some days after the click on the advertising material on your website will still be assigned to you as an affiliate and therefore lead to a subsequent commission.
Deep Link
As a rule an advertising material is not simply linked to the homepage of a Scout24 marketplace but rather to an appropriate sub-page which is relevant to the advertising material. This raises the conversion rate and, as a result, your potential earnings.
Merchant
This is the respective Scout24 partner program, also called the provider, sponsor or merchant operator depending on the network.
Search Engine Marketing (SEM)
As a rule this means the activation of paid advertisements with search engines such as Google (also called sponsored links or keyword advertising). For details as to whether and under which conditions our partner program allows SEM advertising please refer to the respective program description. The term "Search Engine Marketing" is sometimes used as the generic term for all search engine activities.
Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)
SEO means the methods to optimise your websites with specific search terms (keywords) to reach as high a position as possible in the natural search results of the search engine. Differentiation is made between "Onsite/Onpage" (internal criteria such as texts or programming) and "Offsite" optimisation (external factors such as link popularity). "Onsite" in particular can achieve a lot with just a few basic measures.
View
The term "view" refers to a call for a specific advertisement. Since an advertisement is usually incorporated onto one page it means that a view very often equates to a call for a page (also known as a page impression / PI).
