Record number of visitors at “Valley in Berlin”

  •  Key topic Virtual Reality
  • Tips and tricks from Business Angels
  • A touch of Bollywood

Berlin, October 6, 2016 – What hidden potential is there in Virtual Reality and how can VR be integrated into the real estate industry? Why are Business Angels investing in companies like Uber? And how do digital platforms influence the Bollywood scene in India? These and many other topics will be discussed by the international start-up entrepreneur scene at “Valley in Berlin”. YOU IS NOW, Scout24 AG‘s accelerator, has sent out invites to its great start-up event for the fifth time. Around 500 participants followed the keynote speeches and panel discussions. The event’s patron is Brigitte Zypries, Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Ministry for Economy and Energy, and the Federal Government’s delegate for start-ups.

This time, the key topic at “Valley in Berlin” was Virtual Reality. Berkley professor, Stephen R. Ellis, who worked at the NASA Research Center for 17 years, will share his knowledge about future VR technologies in his presentation “Nature, Origins, and Uses of Virtual Environments”. He will review some of the body mounted information display devices and discuss some shift towards virtual reality. As well he will illustrate how these systems can be used to conduct interesting scientific research.

Under the title “How to become a serial entrepreneur”, businessman Matt Mandell (Store4Summer.com) will share his industry experience with start-up entrepreneurs: “We spend a lot of time in front of our screens. That can lead to a certain sense of loneliness. It’s more important to get out and meet like-minded people who have similar day-to-day experiences. This is enormously beneficial to start-up entrepreneurs and businesspeople”.

Samar Khan (Independent Film Director) will speak about the growing significance of Content Creators within the media industry: “Through the digital revolution and the creation of various digital platforms, the media landscape is changing. Content Creators are gaining more and more influence within the entire industry. The Indian media industry is viewed as a pioneer of this transformation process.”

Business Angels Dan Bragiel, Christoph Sollich (Pitch Doctor), Claude Ritter (Book a Tiger), Milos Spiridonovic and Kai Jäger (Deutsche Bank), Stefan Kimmel and Tim Dümichen (KPMG Law), Tyler Crowley (Launch Festival) and Mei Wen (Singularity University und Startup Sweden) also took to the stage.

For the third time already, one of the top speakers is Ziv Gillat (Eyefi): “The event is great. There is a strong entrepreneurial spirit among the audience and there are top speakers on the stage representing the highest echelons of the industry. Visitors to ‘Valley in Berlin’ can exchange with founders and entrepreneurs, and will always learn something new.”

This afternoon, eleven start-ups will also be pitching at the Demo Day at “Valley in Berlin” to Immobilienscout24 and the venture capital investors. Among them are four teams from the sixth YOU IS NOW accelerator batch: MieterEngel, AirTeam, Flatnut and LookAround. Moreover, Agri-nova Analytics, Cambridge Humanae, Dybetic, Robotcloud, Kayla Boutique, Ravejob and WorldBrain will also be presenting their ideas.

“We are fascinated by the insights on the possibilities for implementation and development of Virtual Reality. This new technology will influence the real estate and automotive industries even more strongly in the future, and will thereby have a direct impact on our core business”, said Christian Bubenheim, Senior Vice President of Scout24.

“Valley in Berlin” has established itself as an important industry meet-up. The start-up conference promotes networking and the exchange of knowledge between local entrepreneurs and investors from Silicon Valley. The event is supported by its sponsors Deutsche Bank, KPMG, The Hundert, Berlin Valley, MyCoachbox, Hidence, Bitemojo and Ubeeqo.
