The online flea market Stuffle is now the largest mobile marketplace search engine for classified ads
- Stuffle brings order to the oversupply of buy and sell shops on the Internet
- From equestrian gear to classic cars: Stuffle creates a platform for niche markets
Berlin, 14 December 2015. Why trawl endlessly through the glut of classified ad marketplaces if there is a simpler and faster method? Stuffle, the free flea market app, provides a better alternative. Known previously as a digital marketplace for second-hand items, the startup is currently reinventing itself: Stuffle is set to become Germany’s largest marketplace search engine for classified ads. The Hamburg based startup perfectly reflects consumer tremds as a meta-marketplace for old treasures from a variety of recommerce providers – buy and sell shops for second-hand goods. After all, a recent study by McKinsey & Company into the online classified ad market has revealed that two thirds of all consumers already search online marketplaces for second-hand products, and their numbers are growing steadily.
Stuffle guides you through the jungle of offers
Launched in 2012, Stuffle was the first flea market app on the German market. By now there are many other apps that cater to the buy and sell market for second-hand goods. “This oversupply of providers does not make it easier for users to remain on top of all the different offers. Comparing the immense variety of portals is also extremely time-consuming. This was reason enough for us to take a different approach, launching Stuffle as a portal that allows users to filter and compare a broad range of sellers on just one screen – no matter where the offers were originally posted. Now users can track down more offers than anywhere else”, says Morten Hartmann, CEO at Stuffle.
“Stuffle is a prime example of successful, constructive collaboration between an established player and a startup”, adds Christoph Monnet, Vice President Group Business Development at Scout24. “We put our heads together with the people from Stuffle and came up with the idea for something entirely new. The meta-marketplace we are now launching represents the next stage in the startup’s development, introducing greater user-friendliness to the classified ad scene in Germany. What’s more, the ever-closer integration of Stuffle within our company in recent months has opened the door to new target groups.” The products listed on AutoScout24, a company within the Scout24 Group, are already retrievable via Stuffle, allowing the automotive portal to reach a younger and more mobile target group.
Meta-marketplace for second-hand products
The marketplace search engine by Stuffle allows smartphone users to locate the best classified ads listed by a variety of providers, such as eBay Classifieds, Shpock and AutoScout24. To do this, the app analyses and filters the offers sorting them into clear categories. This gives consumers a simple means of comparing the results and locating the best offer close by. The ads range from fashion and home decoration to equestrian gear and consumer-generated car sales. This broad range has transformed Stuffle into a meta-marketplace that creates an interesting platform, even for niche products. Now Stuffle is all set to launch an affiliate model for use by universal marketplaces and niche providers alike. Strategic linkups with ImmobilienScout24, another company within the Scout24 Group, are also in the pipeline.
