"A
scout for all occasions" - that was the claim that began the success story of Scout24
in 1998, when Joachim Schoss and Christian Mangstl set up the group of companies.
From the outset the
young enterprise had the backing of a strong investor, Beisheim Holding Schweiz. In 1999
AutoScout24
and ImmobilienScout24 became the first two companies in the Group operating in the market. AutoScout24
had already been up and running before Scout24 was set up, under the name of MasterCar AG in Munich.
Within the Group the company established itself as one of the largest German-language used car portals
on the Internet. In 1997 what is now ImmobilienScout24 was incorporated as EIB Wohn-
und Immobilieninternetwork
GmbH in Munich. The company carried on its success story in Berlin and has grown into the largest German
Internet marketplace providing the complete range of property services.
The
Scout24 Group has continually expanded its expertise in other sectors: in 2000 FinanceScout24
went online
as a comparator portal for banking and insurance products, JobScout24 as a job exchange with a multitude
of situations vacant and career tips, and FriendScout24 as a partner and dating exchange. GesundheitsScout24*
[health] and ShoppingScout24* were also launched on the market that year.
Scout24
Schweiz [Switzerland] was founded in 1999. In 2001 numerous
other corporate sites were created, in Italy
and Spain inter alia. Germany is still used as a location for developing new online marketplaces to
boost the corporate group's portfolio. TravelScout24 was added in 2002 as a travel
specialist. Three
years later the youngest of the then seven marketplaces in the Group was set up, ElectronicScout24.
T-Online
International AG acquired Scout24 from Beisheim Holding Schweiz in February 2004.
Since the merger of
T-Online International and Deutsche Telekom AG in 2006 the Scout24 Group has been
a wholly-owned subsidiary
of the Deutsche Telekom Group.
The Local24 and Jobs.de platforms represented a further
landmark in the history of the Scout24 Group: founded in 2006 the Jobs.de portal
was already operating
nationally the following year. And since 2007 Local24, the search engine for regional
classified ads,
has been helping users to manage their very own vacancies and applications.
In
2007 Scout24 AG took over the shares in ImmobilienScout24 being sold by the Aareal
Bank. Today Immobilien
Scout GmbH is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Scout24.
Since 2008
the restructured
homepage of the group of companies www.scout24.de has enabled users to gain personalizable access to
the entire Scout24 product world. Individual search requests and additional information from the individual
online marketplaces can be managed centrally from this Website.
*These
portals no longer operate in the market.
