Munich, 30 November 2009 – Data access any time, any place – 51 per cent of German Internet users already surf while on the move with their mobile or Smartphone. One in four is a heavy user, frequently using mobile services. The gender comparison shows that men (60%) are the pioneers in this respect. 29% of men use mobile online services even several times a week, as opposed to just 17% of women. These are the results of a recent representative trend survey commissioned by Scout24.
The users of mobile services put a premium on news more than anything (71%). The second most popular features are navigation tools (59%). Women in particular are keen users of the electronic directories (58%). Online shopping via the mobile is in third place (51%).
Just under 70 per cent of the online users surveyed would even pay extra for mobile applications, provided the service offered gave them personal added value.
The Scout24 group of companies makes sophisticated iPhone apps available to its users: in addition to the traditional free search function, AutoScout24’s current iPhone application, for instance, offers the “Push notification” option. For a small charge the user receives offers matching his search profile directly on his iPhone. In this way he never misses a bargain. ImmobilienScout24 will shortly be presenting its own iPhone application as well.
A representative random sample of more than 1,000 Internet users took part in the recent trend survey organised by Scout24 and the market research institute Innofact in October 2009. We will gladly send you the detailed results upon request.About Scout24-Group
