Social engagement and mental health offerings expanded
Munich / Berlin, 27 May 2025. On the occasion of German Diversity Day, Scout24 has published its third Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) report. The operator of the online marketplace ImmoScout24 provides an overview of the company's strategy, goals and measures to promote DEI.
In 2024, Scout24 was able to record positive developments in many aspects of diversity, equity and inclusion. An important milestone was increasing the share of women among new hires to almost 60%. This brings Scout24 closer to its goal of achieving gender parity in the workforce by the end of 2025. At the end of 2024, 46% of Scout24's workforce was female and around 41%[1] of leadership positions were held by women – figures that are significantly above the national and international average. In the tech sector, the share of women increased from 30% in 2023 to 35% in 2024. 52% of leadership positions in the tech sector were held by women. Scout24 is also diverse in terms of the origin of its employees: In 2024, people from 59 different nationalities worked together at the company.
“At a time when some companies are scaling back their commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion we are all the more determined to stand by our values. For us, DEI is not a fad, but an indispensable cornerstone of our sustainable success. We are convinced that diverse teams make better decisions and develop more innovative solutions - which is why we continue to consistently invest in a corporate culture that not only accepts differences but celebrates them as strengths,“ comments Dr. Claudia Viehweger, Chief People & Sustainability Officer at Scout24.
To promote an inclusive work environment, Scout24 has integrated mandatory DEI targets into the development plans of leaders. In 2024, a non-financial target for the promotion of women in leadership positions was included in the Executive Board's one-year variable remuneration with a 30% weighting.
Mental health offerings expanded
The mental health of employees is a major concern for Scout24. Since 2023, employees have been able to complete training as mental health first aiders. If necessary, they conduct an initial discussion with colleagues and provide advice on further professional support for mental health problems. Furthermore, Scout24 introduced a platform to promote work-life balance and mental health in 2024. In addition to digital resources and events, the platform also offers anonymous individual consultation on professional and private challenges.
Social engagement extended
In 2024, Scout24 also intensified its social initiatives with a focus on homeless people and people with disabilities. The Berlin City Mission, a long-standing partner of Scout24, opened the first launderette for homeless people in 2024. Since the start of the project, Scout24 has covered the ancillary costs – i.e. electricity, water and other operating costs – and thus contributes to ensuring that clothing or sleeping bags can be cleaned and used for longer. In addition, Scout24 is a partner of the Annedore Leber Vocational Training Centre and offers young people with disabilities the opportunity to complete the practical part of their training at the company. Furthermore, continuous optimisations took place on the ImmoScout24 portal and corporate websites during the 2024 financial year to achieve improvements in terms of accessibility and create an inclusive user experience. Scout24 is supported in this by its long-standing cooperation with the Berlin-based organisation Sozialhelden e.V., which advocates for the participation of people with disabilities.
Transparency and success measurement
To measure the success of DEI initiatives, Scout24 conducts an annual internal inclusion survey. This creates a deeper understanding of barriers that employees experience in the company and helps to explore the potential for further measures. These surveys ask about both personal perception and demographics such as age, gender, disability or care work commitments such as childcare or care for adults. All information is provided voluntarily and anonymously. In addition, Scout24 reviews all salaries regarding potential differences between genders in company-wide gender pay analyses at least once a year.
