Scout24 SE: Climate Targets Officially Validated by Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi)

Berlin, August 7, 2025.The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) has officially validated Scout24 SE's medium and long term science-based climate targets and published them on their website. The SBTi is based on a partnership between CDP, the United Nations Global Compact, the World Resources Institute, and the WWF. It is considered the international gold standard for reviewing corporate climate targets. With this validation, the internationally recognized organization confirms that Scout24's emission targets align with the Paris Climate Agreement and help limit global warming to 1.5°C. In the short term, Scout24 aims to reduce absolute CO₂e emissions by 60% by 2025 compared to the base year 2018 – by the end of 2024, a reduction of 55% had already been achieved.

Scout24's validated emission reduction targets cover the two following time horizons:

  • In the medium term, Scope 1 and 2 emissions are to be reduced by 69.8% and Scope 3 emissions by at least 50.4% by 2030.Scope 1 includes direct emissions from owned sources such as the vehicle fleet, Scope 2 covers indirect emissions from purchased energy such as electricity, heating, and cooling. Scope 3 accounts for all other indirect emissions in the value chain, such as those from purchasing goods or the use of Scout24's digital products.

  • In the long term, a reduction of total emissions by 90% by 2045 is planned, which corresponds to the net-zero target. Net-zero, as defined by the SBTi, means that companies reduce their greenhouse gas emissions across the entire value chain almost completely and only offset unavoidable residual emissions through certified climate protection projects.

"We are very pleased that the SBTi validates our climate targets. It shows: We don't just talk about climate protection – we take action. And we do so in a scientifically sound and measurable way," explains Dr. Claudia Viehweger, Chief People & Sustainability Officer at Scout24 SE.

Scout24 has already made significant progress in implementing its climate strategy. By the end of 2024, the company's fleet already consisted of 86% electric vehicles and is scheduled to be fully electric by the end of 2026. Scout24 already operates more than 90% of its office locations with green electricity. Additionally, the company implemented a travel policy that reduces flights, switched to cloud-based IT, and selects locations based on sustainability criteria. The external SBTi validation demonstrates: Scout24 follows a robust and transparent climate strategy, implements effective measures, and professionally manages climate risks across the entire corporate group.
