Scout24 supports the new laundry of the Berlin City Mission
The Berlin City Mission recently launched a new pilot project: its first dedicated launderette for homeless people. Many of the Stadtmission's guests often see their clothes and sleeping bags as their last possessions, which they can now have washed and dried on the organisation's premises. The launderette also has a clothing store attached to it. This means that dirty but still intact textiles that have been replaced by their owners can also be handed in for cleaning and are then returned to the clothing store.
In this way, the City Mission would also like to contribute to a better circular economy and counteract seasonal lulls in clothing donations. Since the start of the project, we have been covering the ancillary costs for the new launderette - i.e. electricity, water and other operating costs.
Our support for the city mission
At Scout24, we are committed to diversity and social responsibility. In order to provide targeted and effective help, our social commitment has focussed in particular on the areas of homelessness, diversity, equality and inclusion for the past two years.
As Germany's No. 1 property platform, we know how important it is to have your own home or at least a secure roof over your head. That's why our cooperation with the Berlin City Mission is particularly close to our hearts. Every day, they work to provide homeless people with the most basic necessities such as food and clothing and to support them in their search for a new home.
Since the beginning of our cooperation, we have supported the organisation several times with donations of money, goods and clothing as well as the opportunity to use our meeting rooms for conferences. There have also been opportunities for the scouts to get involved with the City Mission as part of our Social Summer.
