Two Years of Supporting the Berliner Stadtmission Laundry Centre

Two years ago, Berliner Stadtmission opened its first laundry centre for people experiencing homelessness in Berlin. Since the very beginning, Scout24 has covered the operating costs of the facility, helping to ensure that this important service remains available. We first shared the launch of the project in 2024. Today, the impact of the initiative has become even clearer.

More than a laundry service

The laundry centre offers people experiencing homelessness a place to wash and dry their clothes free of charge. At the same time, it provides a safe and welcoming environment where visitors can access advice, support and guidance.

While laundry is being washed, social workers from Berliner Stadtmission are available for conversations and counselling. During the past year alone, around 150 support sessions took place, including 115 initial consultations and 52 follow up conversations. The support ranged from social counselling and pastoral care to referrals to specialist services and practical assistance.

The laundry centre was used by people from more than 15 different countries, making it not only a place that meets essential daily needs, but also a space where people from diverse backgrounds can find support and connection.

A long term commitment to social impact

Supporting the laundry centre is part of Scout24's long standing partnership with Berliner Stadtmission. Since 2022, we have worked together to support people experiencing homelessness through financial contributions, donations in kind, employee volunteering and the funding of the laundry centre's operating costs.

This long term commitment reflects Scout24's social strategy and our ambition to strengthen local initiatives that create lasting positive impact for people in vulnerable situations.
