All of this makes Scout24 what it is today: a strong partner enabling people to make the best decision of their lives.

History

The company was founded in 1998 by Beisheim Holding Schweiz AG. AutoScout24 and ImmobilienScout24 became the first online marketplaces to operate. In the following year, the group expanded and launched FinanceScout24, JobScout24 and FriendScout24. In 2001, numerous other company locations were established, including in Italy and Spain. Just one year later, TravelScout24 went online, which is now operated by third parties under a licence and cooperation agreement. At this time, the individual marketplaces were already bundled under the Scout24 umbrella brand.

In 2007, Deutsche Telekom AG became the sole shareholder of the Group and integrated the various marketplaces in the Scout24 holding company.

In 2011, the JobScout24 activities were sold while the trademark rights remained with the Scout24 Group, which continues to generate licence revenues from them.

At the beginning of 2014, Deutsche Telekom AG sold 70 percent of its Scout24 shares to a company that ultimately owns funds advised by affiliates of Hellman & Friedman LLC and The Blackstone Group L.P. In the following one and a half years, Scout24 Switzerland, FriendScout24, Spontacts and Property Guru were sold under the leadership of the new shareholders and in the course of concentration on the two leading core business divisions AutoScout24 and ImmobilienScout24. At the same time, various strategic acquisitions were made, such as Immobilien.net (a leading digital real estate marketplace in Austria), FlowFact (develops and sells software solutions for the customer relationship management of real estate agents).

In April 2015 Scout24 acquired Easyautosale, a leading digital trading platform for the sale of used cars. In the same year Scout24 went public and was listed on the SDAX.

The Group continued to grow – in particular through strategic acquisitions in new European markets. In February 2016, AutoScout24 acquired the Dutch digital automobile advertising portal, European AutoTrader B.V. ImmobilienScout24 further expanded its reach in German-speaking countries with the acquisition of two real estate portals, my-next-home.de and immodirekt.at in the summer of 2016. In August 2017, AutoScout24 took over the Austrian digital marketplace gebrauchtwagen.at.

In addition to the marketplaces ImmobilienScout24 and AutoScout24, Scout24 has bundled all services and offers relating to the search for cars or real estate in a third business segment since 2017: Scout24 Consumer Services. Scout24 Consumer Services, as a Group-wide division, undertakes activities in advertising sales and bundles all activities in the area of services for users. The latter means providing services along the value chain of the entire property sales and rental process and the automotive market, such as construction financing, property valuation, credit information and vehicle financing. Scout24 Media, the digital marketer, is also part of the new business segment. This offers advertisers usage-based online advertising on ImmobilienScout24 and AutoScout24. Scout24 has also been reporting on its balance sheet by the three business segments since 2018.

In June 2018 Scout24 was admitted to the MDAX of the German stock exchange, making it one of the 50 largest companies below the DAX.
